Green Girls STEM Foundation is a nonprofit corporation organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes, specifically to support and encourage kids (especially girls) to participate in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activities, increase the number of girls and young women in STEM, so that there is an equal amount of participation in activities, increase participation in FIRST and robotics across the nation and expose kids to STEM related activities to encourage them to pursue STEM degrees and careers in the future.
Green Girls STEM Foundation exposes children and young people to the benefits of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) by demonstrating robots, providing information on starting robotics clubs and STEM informational websites and teaching materials, speaking at technology events about the benefits of STEM careers and the need to increase women in the field. We present and demonstrate robotics and science, technology, engineering and math activities at over 52+ events a year which range from science museums, state fairs, robotics competitions, charitable organizations and technology programs at local colleges. The kids love our robot demonstrations and quite often start their own teams or visit us again. We have started many separate girls' robotics teams over the years. Our activities show children how fun STEM can be and gets them interested in learning more. Our presentations at events and colleges encourages women to choose STEM careers. Our information enables coaches and teachers to find information on starting clubs and STEM resources and further other charitable organizations that are dedicated to promoting STEM activities and furthering the participation of young people in STEM careers. We collaborate with other robotics teams and groups to maximize our impact on current efforts. We work with other teams on 5k runs, fun game demonstrations and distributing flyers and brochures with technology information.
We provide money to robotics clubs in Minnesota. These clubs support STEM learning through robotics design, build, program and competitions. We also donate time to demonstrate and spread the word about STEM to the local community. Part of our mission is to encourage and support young women in STEM activities. We donate our time and money towards supporting all diverse robotics teams. We also provide money to High Tech Kids of Minnesota. High Tech Kids (www.hightechkids.org) is the Minnesota organization that supports FIRST activities in Minnesota. They run tournaments and reach out to the community to spread the benefits of STEM.
